*Baseball’s a funny game. It has more rules than any other game played with a ball in the world. But they are not the heart and soul or even the etiquette of the game. Every Major Leaguer knows, and minor leaguers learn, that the true guiding principles of the sport are the unwritten Commandments—the way the game is supposed to be played. They make for good baseball. All else being equal, sometimes even winning baseball! Why did I paint a skeleton? The skeletons are because I've always been amazed by the complexity of coordinated motions required to hit and throw a baseball. All 206 bones working in concert to produce that fluid, violent swing, that wicked curve ball for an unhitable strike!

Grateful that I've had MLB games to keep me company (while in the studio painting ugly old white guys in suits and ties), I began a series of paintings and prints featuring some of those Commandments. Maybe I'll even get to 10? Hope you get a kick out of them.
